TED VAUGHN - Vocals and Blues Harp
Ted Vaughn was born and raised in Texas and has been involved in the music scene since the age of twelve. He was heavily influenced by the blues sounds of "Lightnin' Hopkins" and "Howlin' Wolf" as well as country artists such as Waylon Jennings. Ted immersed himself in the blues and country music of the region and in doing so, formed a friendship with the late Texas bluesman Willie Willis. He perfected the art of "sneaking back stage" to learn technique and tips on the blues harp from such notable players as Charlie Musselwhite, Sam Meyer (Anson Funderburg and the Rockets) and James Harman.
Ted's latest CD, "Born to the Blues" was produced by Leon-Forrest and engineered by Paul Carlsen (The Doors, Greg Allman, Nirvana). It was released on Harbinger Northwest Records and is receiving airplay in Europe and the United States.
CLAY KING - Guitar and Vocals
Clay "Bone" King was raised in Southern California and began his musical journey by playing classical violin in the fourth grade. He found a love for the guitar and studied jazz with Charlie Parker's sax player, Warne Marsh as well as Jazz Virtuoso Joe Pass and Jimmy Wyble (Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys).
His musical influences include Albert King, Lightnin' Hopkins and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Clay has shared the stage with blues greats Corey Stevens and Doug MacLeod. He continues to be one of the most "in demand" guitarists on the West coast and his performances with "The Ted Vaughn Blues Band" leave audiences spellbound.
Doug Henderson - Keyboards
Doug "Spike" Henderson has been playing music almost since he was able to stand upright. Although originally a trumpet player, in his early years, he turned to the keyboards and played with the California Institute of Technology Jazz Orchestra for three years. He played in bands directed by music giants such as Doc Sevrensen and Henry Mancini. Doug collaborated with the band "Strawberry Alarm Clock" on their classic hit "Incense and Peppermints" and is featured on the top 40 singles by the band "Equinox". His musical influences include: Muddy Waters, Paul Butterfield, Buddy Guy and Dr. John. Doug's style and flair for performing energizes music lovers at every show.
Ted Larson - Bass
Ted is a hard working bass player who has 23 years of experience under his belt. While playing for a number of successful bands, his most notable gigs were a duo called "Us Two", and the popular variety band "Canyon Fever". His major claim to fame comes from way back down in Northern California when we opened for a band called "The New Breed" who featured a young Timothy B. Schmidt, who later joined The Eagles.
Ian Henderson - Drums
Ian Henderson, the band's youngest member, hails from Palo Alto, CA., but grew up "everywhere West of Texas". As the son of keyboardist Doug Henderson, he was exposed to all forms of music. His influences range from Nirvana to Zepplin and Lexxi Vexx to Incubus. Although proficient on the trumpet, clarinet and bass, he found the drums as the best expression of "the blues in his blood". Ian brings a youthful exuberance and energy to every performance.
